Optimal control of treatment in a basic virus infection model. (English) Zbl 1172.92024
Summary: The aim of this work is the application of optimal control for a system of ordinary differential equations modeling the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. The optimal controls represent the efficiency of drug therapy in inhibiting viral production and preventing new infections. Pontryagin’s maximum principle is used to characterize the optimal controls. The optimality system is derived and solved numerically.
