Making public administrations more efficient with integrated systems. A reference guide from the ASTRA ESPRIT project 831. (English) Zbl 0841.68125

Amsterdam etc.: Elsevier Science Publ. VIII, 293 p. (1991).
This book has been conceived to provide a framework for practitioners with the task of designing integrated office systems for public administrations and large organizations with similar needs and requirements. It is a general thinking tool with an inside view of OIS design aspects. The book presents a comprehensive approach to strategy, planning, development, implementation and operation of integrated office information systems in open environments. Its aim is not to provide methodologies or detailed structures designed to produce such systems. Its open nature allows it to address a broad spectrum of people at different levels with different concerns, i.e.: managers concerned with the planning of and investment in office systems, practitioners in charge of designing, requesting and providing solutions inside the IT departments of public administrations, experts and system designers interested in the office automation paradigm and in the experience of projects in this field, students interested in office systems development.
