(English) Zbl 0763.65056 Expert systems for scientific computing, Proc. 2nd IMACS Int. Conf., West Lafayette, IN/USA 1990, 33-54 (1992). [For the entire collection see Zbl 0747.00037.]For the numerical integration of initial value ordinary differential equations a wide range of software is available. This paper describes an expert system for the selection of an appropriate integrator. Automatic tests are incorporated yielding information about critical properties such as linearity, stiffness and structures of the problem. The recommended code is mainly selected from the HARWELL, IMSL, NAG and SLATEC libraries.
