Summary: The TTT-plot (TTT=Total Time on Test), an empirical and scale independent plot based on failure data, and the corresponding asymptotic curve, the scaled TTT-transform, were introduced by R.E. Barlow and R. Campo [Reliab. Fault Tree Anal., Conf. Berkeley 1974, 451-481 (1975; Zbl 0316.62039)] and used for model identification purposes. Since then these tools have proven to be very useful in several practical and theoretical applications within reliability. This paper presents some recent applications of TTT-plotting. One is how to handle censored data and another one is an application for maintenance optimization when analysing data using the proportional hazards model. We will also discuss how the TTT-plotting technique can be used to illustrate and study some test statistics for testing exponentiality. Furthermore, an application to design of experiments will be discussed.
