Bramble, J. H.; Pasciak, J. E.; Schatz, A. H. An iterative method for elliptic problems on regions partitioned into substructures. (English) Zbl 0595.65111 Math. Comput. 46, 361-369 (1986). This paper treats the numerical solution of elliptic boundary problems. Some new preconditioners are proposed here, which require the solution of simplified problems on subdomains only. Analytic estimates are given which guarantee the preconditioned iterative procedure converges with a rate that is independent on the mesh parameters. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the above results.
