Flow of viscous fluid in a contracting or expanding pipe - A simple model for human bronchial tube. (English) Zbl 0681.76121

We present a simple mathematical model for fluid transport through a thin bronchial tube. The model may consist of semi-infinite circular pipe with one end closed by complaint membrane which prevents only axial motion. The model assumes that alternate contraction and expansion does not introduce any radial component of velocity but modifies the axial velocity.
