Roquette, Peter On Max Deuring’s works in algebra and number theory. (Über die algebraisch-zahlentheoretischen Arbeiten von Max Deuring.) (German) Zbl 0714.01019 Jahresber. Dtsch. Math.-Ver. 91, No. 3, 109-125 (1989). The author being himself a well-known algebraist and number-theorist gives a description of the work of Max Deuring in algebra and number theory based on his personal experience. It can be viewed as an augmentation of M. Kneser’s obituary [ibid. 89, 135-143 (1987; Zbl 0621.01012)] and emphasizes that part of Deuring’s scientific output which is only shortly treated otherwise. In particular the “Ergebnisbericht” Algebren (1968; Zbl 0159.042)] and the papers on the theory of correspondences [J. Reine Angew. Math. 177, 161-191 (1937; Zbl 0016.34601) und 183, 25-36 (1940; Zbl 0024.01301)] are discussed.
