The aim of this paper is to extend the well-known fundamental theorem of Serre concerning the Spencer cohomology groups [see the Appendix of V. W. Guillemin and S. Sternberg, Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 70, 16–47 (1964; Zbl 0121.38801)] to the generalized Spencer cohomology groups introduced by N. Tanaka [Hokkaido Math. J. 8, 23–84 (1979; Zbl 0409.17013)].
