Ross, Sheldon M. Introduction to probability models. 5. ed. (English) Zbl 0781.60001 Boston, MA: Academic Press, Inc.. xi, 556 p. (1993). This is the fifth edition of the monograph, for a review of the fourth edition see Zbl 0676.60002. The sequence of the chapters is unchanged compared to the fourth edition but a number of examples have been added - - notably in Chapter 5 (“analysis of greedy algorithms for the assignment problem”, “tracking the number of HIV infections” and others) and in Chapter 10 which now contains a section on option pricing including a discussion of the arbitrage theorem. More than 120 new exercises have been added. This edition retains the character of the previous ones: it is an elementary introduction to probability theory and stochastic processes with lots of examples, applications and exercises.
