The volume gives a selection of papers presented at the 16th International Wittgenstein-Symposium 1993 at Kirchberg am Wechsel (Austria) which was devoted to “Philosophy and the cognitive sciences”. It comprises 35 papers grouped into the sections “Philosophy and the foundations of cognitive science” (4 papers), “Wittgenstein and cognitive science” (8 papers), “Content and object” (9 papers), “Logic and foundations” (4 papers), “Lagrange and linguistics” (6 papers), “Ontology and mereology” (4 papers). They concern especially the philosophy of mind and aspects of artificial intelligence. The articles of mathematical interest will be reviewed individually.
