The author reports on his experiences with Georg Kreisel when being a graduate student at Stanford 1963-67, during his time at U.C.L.A. 1967/68, in his correspondences in the 1970’s and at Stanford again 1979-83 when he took over the new Center for the Study of Language and Information. He tells among other things the prehistory of Barwise Completeness and Compactness Theorems for countable, admissible fragments of \({\mathcal L}_{\omega_{1},\omega}\).
