Rough set elements. (English) Zbl 0927.68085

Polkowski, Lech (ed.) et al., Rough sets in knowledge discovery 1. Methodology and applications. Heidelberg: Physica-Verlag. Stud. Fuzziness Soft Comput. 18, 10-30 (1998).
Summary: After 15 years of pursuing rough set theory and its applications we witness a rapid growth of interest in rough set theory and its applications, worldwide.
Many international workshops, conferences and seminars included rough sets in their programs. A large number of high quality papers on various aspects of rough sets and their applications have been published in recent years.
In view of many generalizations and extensions of rough set theory some kind of unification of the basic theory seems to be badly needed. This paper is intended as an attempt to fulfill these needs.
Besides, in the Appendix a try of the first “almost complete” list of publications on rough sets is given. It can be very useful to all interested in the present state of rough set theory and its applications.
