Existence theorems of Hartman-Stampacchia type for hemivariational inequalities and applications. (English) Zbl 0951.49018

The authors extend the Hartman-Stampacchia theorems from variational inequalities to hemivariational inequalities. The finite case is skilfully used for solving the general inequality problem on a reflexive Banach space. The argument in the proofs relies strongly on nonsmooth analysis and the corresponding theorems for variational inequalities. Various applications in mechanics and economics are given. The paper represents an interesting contribution to the theory of hemivariational inequalities and their applications.
