Parallel evolutionary optimization of multibody systems with application to railway dynamics. (English) Zbl 1041.70006

A stochastic evolutionary strategy utilizing parallel computation is developed for the optimal design of flexible multibody systems. It is claimed that the procedure provides for a significant reduction in computing time. Application to transportation systems – specifically, to railway system design – is illustrated and envisioned. The paper advances the state-of-the-art of this promising optimization procedure. The paper should be of interest and use to both theoreticians and software developers.
