This monograph is written by two experts in the field. It fills a gap in the literature by bringing together the most important facts known about monounary algebras. The subject is treated in detail and the book gives a good overview on the research results obtained so far. The exposition is clear and well readable and the text is illustrated by numerous diagrams. The chapters include the following material: homomorphisms, congruences, subalgebras, products, retracts, retract lattices, retract irreducibility and classes of monounary algebras as well as related structures. A bibliography and an index are included. The book is of interest not only for algebraists but also for people working in theoretical computer science.
