Pasting in multiple categories. (English) Zbl 0889.18004
This paper refines the subject represented by M. Johnson’s thesis [“Pasting diagrams in n-categories with applications to coherence theorems and categories of paths”, University of Sydney 1987], the reviewer’s work [“Parity complexes”, Cah. Topologie Géom. Différ. Catégoriques 32, No. 4, 315-343 (1991; Zbl 0760.18011) and ibid. 35, No. 4, 359-361 (1994; Zbl 0811.18007)] and previous work of the author [“The algebra of directed complexes”, Appl. Categ. Struct. 1, No. 3, 247-284 (1993; Zbl 0804.18005)]. The notion of partial \(\omega\)-category is introduced to provide a systematic development “from below” of axioms for the author’s concept of \(\omega\)-complex.
