A necessary and sufficient condition for the diagonalization of multi-dimensional quasilinear systems. (English) Zbl 0931.35030
The diagonalization of systems is important in the theory of partial differential equations. The author proved a necessary and sufficient condition for a class of quasilinear systems in multidimensions, then give some physical applications. For example, the systems of gas dynamics, the systems of conservation laws with rotational invariance and the systems of multi-component chromatography.
