On the solution of an integral equation appearing in displacement problems. (English) Zbl 0964.45001
A Fredholm integral equation of the first kind with kernel \(k(x,y) = \log|\tanh \frac{x-y}{\lambda}|\) is “solved” in the limiting case of \(\lambda \to \infty\), where an explicit solution is available. No convergence results are given, and the general case remains open.
