A stochastic version of Fan’s best approximation theorem. (English) Zbl 1057.41024
Summary: We establish some deterministic and random approximation results with the help of two continuous maps in the context of a metrizable topological vector space. These results generalize some well known results in approximation theory.

MSC:
41A65 Abstract approximation theory (approximation in normed linear spaces and other abstract spaces)
46A16 Not locally convex spaces (metrizable topological linear spaces, locally bounded spaces, quasi-Banach spaces, etc.)
47H10 Fixed-point theorems
60H25 Random operators and equations (aspects of stochastic analysis)
