The paper deals with the tomography of the dielectric tensor and stress tensor fields in a birefringent material. The authors derive equations for electric field components of a polarized light passing through such a medium and analyze their solutions as well as experimental methods of verification the theory. The discussed method is illustrated by two experimental examples.
