Analytic and differential geometry. (English) Zbl 0956.51018

This book is intended for an introductory course in analytic and differential geometry. It is aimed to acquaint the students with the various fundamental concepts of these fields, as well as to enable them to attain some degree of proficiency in the manipulation and application of the mathematical tools of geometry. It involves the didactic experience of the authors as members of Department of Mathematics at University Politehnica of Bucharest, enhanced further by the lecturing in English since 1990. The text is designed for a 1-semester geometry course, having as basis the lectures taught and seminarized by the authors at the Department of Engineering Sciences.
Table of contents: Analytic geometry. 1. Free vectors. 2. Equations of straight line and plane in space. 3. Transformations of coordinates. 4. Conics. 5. Quadrics.
