Bestimmung einer absoluten Konstanten aus der Theorie der trigonometrischen Reihen. (German) JFM 55.0753.02

Vorausgesetzt wird \(a_ n \geqq a_{n+1}\) für \(n \geqq 1\) und \(a_n \to 0\). Bekanntlich ist dann die Reihe \[ f (x) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty a_n \cos nx \] für \(0 < x < 2\pi\) konvergent. Es wird bewiesen:
Wenn \(P\) die zwischen \(\frac 12\) und 1 gelegene Wurzel der Gleichung \[ I (\alpha) = \int\limits_0^{\frac 32} y^\alpha \sin \pi y \, dy = 0 \] und \(s_n= a_1 + a_2 + \cdots + a_n\) ist, so folgt aus \[ \varlimsup_{n \to \infty} \frac {n a_{n+1}}{s_n} < P, \] daß \[ \lim_{x \to + 0} f(x) = + \infty \] ist. \(P\) kann durch keine größere Zahl und auch das Zeichen \(<\) nicht durch \(\leqq\) ersetzt werden.
