High-frequency vibrations of finite cylinders. (Ukrainian. English summary) Zbl 1177.74228

Summary: Vibrations of isotropic elastic cylinders near the second cut-off frequency of a cylindrical waveguide are studied. The method of superposition that uses the possibility of constructing partial solutions of the equations of motion in cylindrical coordinates to satisfy the boundary conditions both at the ends and on the lateral surface of a cylinder is used. The dependence on Poisson’s ratio for the curvature of branches near the cut-off frequency is analyzed in connection with the appearance of the “terrace”-like structures in frequency spectra. Examples of eigenmodes are given.
