The authors seek the principal term of the uniform asymptotic form (in the small parameter of the relative transverse dimension of the cavity) of the exact solution. The structure of the stress-strain state is investigated. The parameters of brittle fracture are determined within the framework of the theory of normal separation, through the use of Novozhilov’s criterion.
