Selikhov, A. Cellular algorithm for isoline extraction from a 2D image. (English) Zbl 0938.68983 Bull. Novosib. Comput. Cent., Ser. Comput. Sci. 6, 87-98 (1997). Summary: A cellular algorithm for extracting isolines from a 2D image of a 3D surface is presented. The algorithm is divided into two stages: secondary quantization and extraction of isolines. A realization of each stage as one-time iteration on the base of the Parallel Substitution Algorithm is obtained. Results of the algorithm simulation in a parallel substitution simulation system ALT are presented for an example of a 256-colors grayscale surface image processing. Cellular structures for extracting isolines of two types (dense and minimal) are also suggested.
