Banerjee, Mihir B.; Gupta, J. R.; Shandil, R. G.; Sood, S. K.; Sharma, K. C.; Katoch, D. C. A modified analysis of thermal and thermohaline instability of a liquid layer. II: The effect of rotation. (English) Zbl 0648.76032 J. Math. Phys. Sci. 22, No. 4, 457-474 (1988). In the present investigation following Part I [ibid. 17, 603-629 (1983; Zbl 0529.76049)] a set of modified simplified equations which govern the onset of instability in rotatory thermal/thermohaline convection is given. The modified theory distinguishes between a hotter and a cooler layer of the same liquid under almost identical conditions which is lacking in the classical theory. Further, detailed consequences have been worked out for the problem of thermohaline convection under the effect of rotation.
