The authors give a survey and new results on the oscillatory behaviour of the nonlinear differential equation \((r(t)x')' +q(t)f(x)=0\), in particular of the Emden-Fowler equation. The criteria involve convergence or divergence of integrals containing the coefficients. Also, the asymptotic behavior is studied.
