These materials have never before appeared in any other language and were hardly known outside Russia. They naturally fall into the same categories as those listed in A. A. Markov, Izbrannye trudy (Selected works). Number theory. Probability theory (1951; Zbl 0054.00305), pp. 620–640.
Also included are: translations of archival letters (correspondence between A. A. Markov and one of his students and V. I. Romanovsky’s letters to K. Pearson of 1924–1925); original German texts of the letters of Chuprov’s sister to K. Pearson of 1926; and a passage from an official document of 1938 concerning the disappearance of Bortkiewicz’s portrait from one Hochschule in Berlin.
