Erdős, Paul; Offord, A. C. On the number of real roots of a random algebraic equation. (English) Zbl 0070.01702 Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 6, 139-160 (1956). Bezeichnet \(F(n)\) die (endliche) Menge der Gleichungen \[ f_n(x) = 1+\varepsilon_1 x+\varepsilon_2 x^2 + \cdots + \varepsilon_n x^n=0 \] vom Grade \(n\) mit Koeffizienten \(\varepsilon_\nu = \pm 1\), so ist die Anzahl \(R(f_n)\) der reellen Wurzeln für ”fast alle” Gleichungen \(f_n(x) = 0\) \[ R(f_n) = 2\pi^{-1} \log n+o\{(\log n)^{2/3} \log\log n\}; \] die Ausnahmen machen nur ein \(o((\log\log)^{-1/3})\) der Gesamtzahl der Gleichungen von \(F_n\) aus (Vgl. auch J.E.Littlewood and A.C.Offord, Zbl 0021.03702).
