Seien \(\alpha,\beta,\gamma\) Ordinalzahlen und \(m\) eine Kardinalzahl. Dann bedeute \(\alpha \Rightarrow [\beta,\gamma]_n\) folgendes: Ist \(S\) eine wohlgeordnete Menge vom Ordnungstyp \(\alpha\) und ist \({\mathfrak F} = \{F_\mu\mid \mu \in M\}\) mit \(|M| = m\) eine Familie von Teilmengen von \(S\), so daß jedes \(F_\mu\), \(\mu \in M\), einen Ordnungstyp \(< \beta\) hat, dann hat \(S\) eine Teilmenge des Typs \(\gamma\), welche zu \(m\) vielen Mengen \(F_\mu\) aus \({\mathfrak F}\) disjunkt ist. In einer früheren Arbeit [Acta Math. Acad. Sci. Hung. 17, 159-229 (1966; dies. Zbl 0151.33701)] hatten die Verff. u.a. gezeigt, daß \(\omega_2\alpha \Rightarrow [\omega_1^\omega,\omega_2\alpha]_{\aleph_2}\) gilt für alle \(\alpha < \omega_1\).
