Similar axially symmetric Marangoni boundary layers. (English) Zbl 0559.76037

Similar solutions of thermally induced Marangoni boundary layers in axially symmetric configurations are investigated. Through the use of Mangler’s transformation it is shown that, in the subject isobaric case, the outer temperatures, as for planar Marangoni boundary layers, must vary as a power law of the streamwise coordinate and that the interface must be a cylindrical surface. Relevant flow features of similar Marangoni boundary layers along cylindrical surfaces are then presented and discussed.
