It is impossible to become a mathematician without the willingness to solve problems. Students who think that there is no need for doing that may appreciate existing mathematical theories but will never create new ones themselves. These remarks especially apply to students in general topology. The number of concepts in this feld is fairly extensive and becoming familiar with them requires lots of training.

The authors collected 1587 problems on general topology and provide solutions to most of them. This problem set is carefully designed; if the student goes through all the problems in the book then at the end he is familiar with almost all basic notions in general topology. In addition to this, he knows more what mathematics is about than can be expected of a student taking an ordinary course in general topology.

This book is well written and will be of lasting importance to both teachers and students in general topology.
