Rońda, J.; Mahrenholtz, O.; Bogacz, R.; Brzozowski, M. The rolling contact problem for an elastic-plastic strip and a rigid roller. (English) Zbl 0614.73114 Mech., Res. Commun. 13, 119-132 (1986). The probem is formulated as a plane strain problem with dynamic terms omitted. Research concentrates on development of corrugations and folds on the surface. Coulomb friction and elastic-plastic material with isotropic work hardening are included. The contact problem is formulated as the minimization of a penalty function. A Newton-Raphson method is used to solve the set of finite element equilibrium equations. Numerical results are obtained, but are not compared to any experimental ones.
