Cox, David A. Generic Torelli and infinitesimal variation of Hodge structure. (English) Zbl 0637.14008 Algebraic geometry, Proc. Summer Res. Inst., Brunswick/Maine 1985, part 2, Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 46, 235-246 (1987). [For the entire collection see Zbl 0626.00011.] The paper discusses recent developments concerning generic Torelli theorems. The concept of “infinitesimal variation of Hodge structure” is explained [cf. J. Carlson, M. Green, P. Griffiths and J. Harris, Compos. Math. 50, 109-205 (1983; Zbl 0531.14006)] and Donagi’s work (especially his “symmetrizers” and “polynomial structures”) are reviewed [cf. R. Donagi, Compos. Math. 50, 325- 353 (1983; Zbl 0598.14007)]. Then are discussed the recent generic Torelli theorems due to Donagi, Tu, Saito, Green, Chakiris and the author.
