Alimov, A. L. Method of data contraction for digital correction of reading of a measuring system. (Russian) Zbl 0661.65012 Zh. Vychisl. Mat. Mat. Fiz. 28, No. 7, 981-991 (1988). To improve the exactness of a certain measuring system corrections of the reading are used that reflect the errors in the previous work of the whole system. Usually the correcting functions form a large class F. The author presents a method of data contraction based on the following idea: 1) The set F is divided into subclasses \(G_ 1,...,G_ n\). 2) A linear finite dimensional subspace \(A_ i\) is associated with each \(G_ i\). 3) An algorithm is described for approximating any \(f\in G_ i\) by elements from \(A_ i\).
