The decade 1920-30 is considered a transitional period from “classical” to “modern” mathematics in American universities and, in addition, there were important reforms in 1918-19 at Yale which had great importance in undergraduate teaching. The paper contains a brief historical introduction from the founding of Yale College and a biographical sketch of the major Professors, the main subjects they were occupied in, and their influence on the development of the mathematics courses that were included to the program studies. There is an exposition of the objectives and consequences of the 1918-19 reforms, and the reasons for which the twenties were one of the most remarkable periods at Yale.
