Yunus, Shah M. A study of different hybrid elements with and without rotational D.O.F. for plane stress/plane strain problems. (English) Zbl 0678.73046 Comput. Struct. 30, No. 5, 1127-1133 (1988). Summary: Two new plane hybrid three- and four-node elements are introduced. The elements use two translations and one rotation at each node. Three different sets of five-parameter stress fields in a natural convected coordinate system are used on an Allman triangle (AT) to develop a mixed AT element. A mixed Allman quadrilateral (AQ) element is developed based on a nine-parameter complete linear stress field in natural space. The element formulation is shown and the performance of a mixed AQ is found to be excellent when compared with published three- and four-node elements.
