Chaos in systems with noise. 2. ed. (English) Zbl 0761.60001

Singapore: World Scientific,. xi, 232 p. (1990).
[For the first edition (1988) see Zbl 0653.60002.]
This second edition contains a few new chapters, notably one on homoclinic chaos including a discussion of Melnikov’s method. Some others have been rewritten. A distinguishing feature of the book is the large number of examples — mainly from mechanics — for which the influence of noise on the behaviour of the system is investigated.
The book is largely written in a physicist’s style. Unfortunately the number of misprints is nonnegligible.
