The authors have discussed a broad range of topics in reacting flows. It includes the description of general gas-phase reactive flow problem and recent developments in scientific computing that is likely to make a significant impact on simulating these complex flows. The paper includes discussion of models of physical system themselves, computer architectures, numerical methods and the complexity of problems that can be solved. New algorithms are now becoming available for CFD and reactive flow. It is asserted that these advances in computers and numerical methods allow one to solve complicated multidimensional problems with more realistic boundary conditions, more complicated chemical models for longer times and at higher resolutions.
