[The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually.]
This volume consists of 26 articles selected from among 41 that were presented at the Fifth International Workshop on Computer Aided Scheduling of Public Transport held in Montreal, Canad, 1990. The selected articles are divided into six groups. The first one contains two of the most widely used system: BUSMAN (UK) and HASTUS (Canada) that are both updated with advanced technologies of graphical interfaces. The second group includes five articles on problem, experiences and innovative approaches coming from transit companies. The third group consisting of eight articles presents researchers on vehicle scheduling problems. They deal with synchronization, relations between scheduling and planning, real-time scheduling, etc. The fourth group consisting of four articles is related to the use of technology and the collection of data for scheduling and planning, while the fifth one consisting of three articles concentrates on the data bases required for transit operation planning. Finally, the last group consisting of four articles is concerned with search and crew scheduling problems.
