Dong, Jirun; Li, Qingzhong A strategy of distributed query optimization in fast local area networks. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 0795.68054 J. Shandong Univ., Nat. Sci. Ed. 26, No. 1, 33-40 (1991). Summary: A distributed query optimization strategy is discussed here. Semijoin and FR techniques are not appropriate to local area networks. A new method is given here. After identifying a fragmented relation and a group of processing sites, we assign a parameter to each site which is called busy degree. The possibility of accessing the same site by some processing sites simultaneously is reduced when processing joins. So the serial processing delay is made as short as possible.
