Chiu, Chichia; Hoppensteadt, Frank C. A particle method for population waves. (English) Zbl 0812.92015 SIAM J. Appl. Math. 54, No. 2, 466-477 (1994). Phase models are useful for studying synchronization of bacterial cell culture growth and other biological events associated with cell cycles. This paper considers a model that allows the growth rate of cells to change at different phases of cell cycle. A particle method is derived for solving the weak formulation of this model, and convergence of the particle method is proved.
