Kunkel, Peter; Mehrmann, Volker A new class of discretization methods for the solution of linear differential-algebraic equations with variable coefficients. (English) Zbl 0858.65064 SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 33, No. 5, 1941-1961 (1996). A new discretization method for linear differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) is developed. This method can be used for DAEs with variable coefficients. New numerical methods for the computation of local invariants of such DAEs are introduced. Based on these numerical methods regularization schemes are obtained. The new algorithms are applied to a number of numerical tests.
