On Krylov subspace approximations to the matrix exponential operator. (English) Zbl 0888.65032
Krylov subspace methods for approximating matrix exponentials are analyzed. Error bounds are derived via the Arnoldi and Laczos methods. As a side result, error bounds are obtained for Galerkin-type Krylov methods for linear equations. The obtained bounds are analyzed and compared.
