Stabilization of nonlinear systems using output feedback. (English) Zbl 0924.93038

The author presents two different approaches to the problem of output feedback stabilization for nonlinear systems. In the first part of the paper, a new proof of a method based on Teel-Praly’s nonlinear separation principle is given. The result applies to single-input single-output systems of the form \[ \begin{cases} \dot x=f(x)+ug(x)\\ y=h(x)\end{cases} \] where \(f,g,h\) are continuous maps, and provides semi-global stabilization.
In the second part, the author considers nonlinear systems in normal form, and introduces a recursive procedure which provides robust semiglobal practical stabilization by output feedback. This approach is first illustrated in the case of linear systems.
