Press, S. James; Tanur, Judith M. The subjectivity of scientists and the Bayesian approach. (English) Zbl 0973.01088 Wiley Series in Probability and Statistics. New York, NY: Wiley. x, 274 p. (2001). The authors’ intent is to highlight the role of subjectivity in science by describing the life and works of 17 scientists. The book culminates with a 20-page pitch for harnessing this subjectivity via a Bayesian methodology. Unfortunately, the biographical vignettes contain several statements – both scientific and historic – that are, at a minimum, arguable.
