Szidarovszky, Ferenc; Molnár, Sándor Introduction to matrix theory. With applications to business and economics. (English) Zbl 1007.15001 Series on Concrete and Applicable Mathematics. 3. Singapore: World Scientific. ix, 501 p. (2002). This is an introductory textbook on linear algebra based on matrix theory. Its content is traditional, on a level higher than that of the well-known linear algebra by H. Anton [in several editions published by Wiley. For the 7th ed. (1994) see Zbl 0929.15001]. The book includes formal exercises (without answers) as well applications, most of them standard (dynamical systems, Leontieff, Markov, condition numbers). An impression of the style of the book can be obtained by reading the first ten or twenty pages, which are typical. The presentation could be improved by adding text and removing linguistic shortcomings, in particular those that affect the mathematical content and standard mathematical terminology, and by giving more detailed explanations and motivations of some of the applications.
