Lectures on holographic superfluidity and superconductivity. (English) Zbl 1180.82218
The author describes some recent advances in applying holographic techniques to condensed matter systems. The main research directions considered in this review paper are the following: (i) a connection between condensed matter systems and holography; (ii) a discussion of the classical and new results in field theory; (iii) a computation of field theory transport coefficients by means of Einstein-Hilbert and Maxwell terms; (iv) a perturbation of the gravitational action by adding an order parameter that produces a superconducting or superfluid phase transition. An important part of the paper deals with the study of the London equation and of the Meissner effect.
