Flow waves of hierarchical pattern formation induced by chemical waves: the birth, growth and death of hydrodynamic structures. (English) Zbl 1191.37049

The authors describe their experiments on hydrodynamic instabilities induced by chemical waves exited in the batch reactor of a Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction. Some new phenomenon are described and analysed.
