Numerical simulation of unsteady low speed flow by preconditioned method. (English) Zbl 1230.76037

Summary: We describe a numerical simulation of unsteady low-speed Navier-Stokes equations by a preconditioned method, by a dual-time stepping method and by an implicit lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel method. Unsteady low-speed flow computations are carried out for an impulsively started lid-driven cavity flow and for an oscillating lid-driven cavity flow. The results show that the preconditioned method is efficient for unsteady low-speed flows and can effectively eliminate the stiffness of the governing equations for low-speed flows.
